ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #150

Today is the release of the 150th issue of Ultimate Spider-Man. In this anniversary comic, writer Brian Bendis asked three other artists to join series regulars David Lafuente and Sara Pichelli. Those three are Skottie Young, Jamie McKelvie, and myself. I've illustrated the 8-page Iron Man story.

Here is David LaFuente's awesome cover.

You can preview the work of the other artist's at Comic Book Resources, but here are two of my pages, colored by Sunny Gho. You can click through for larger versions.

Special thanks to iFanboy for picking the issue as one to check out this week.

"I can't think of a better way to celebrate 150 issues of one of the longest running, consistently great titles Marvel publishes than the artistic tour de force that Brian Bendis pulled together. Joining series regular artists LaFuente and Pichelli are two of my favorite artists: Jamie McKelvie and Skottie Young. Throw in a fantastic artist I would never have thought [I] would [see] on Spider-Man -- Joelle Jones -- and this extra huge issue is clearly one to pick up, even if you've never read an issue of Ultimate Spider-Man before."

Pages will be for sale, please enquire through the regular joellejonesart[a]gmail[dot]com address--though the page with Spidey above is already claimed.

NYCC

So I have been trying all night to post some awesome pics of new commissions, but for some reason (probably it is that I am terrible with technology ((I had to check spelling on technology it is so bad))) I couldn't post anything. But I will probably ask for help tomorrow and get something up, I did a ton over the past two days and I want to share really bad. On another note I will be in NY this weekend and if you are able to I would love to see you, I guess I will be at D10, hope to see you there!

Some Sketches from Stumptown

Below are some pieces drawn for Nicolas Hitori de while we were sharing a table at Stumptown.

First, a full-size drawing of the girls from Spell Checkers:

Spell Checkers con sketch for Nico

Strathmore was handing out samples of their 2 1/2" by 3 1/2" "artist trading cards," and Nico and I kept using them to sneak drawings to each other. I did this sketch portrait of him.

He did this one of me:

Nico also went home with these two. The first was done using ink and pastels, the second was in pencil.

THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE

Reminders:

* This weekend we will be at Stumptown in Portland promoting Spell Checkers vol. 1, which went on sale today. Geek Girl on the Street has one of several positive reviews out there.

Stumptown is located at the Doubletree in NE Portland, near Lloyd Center, and we will be located at table 16. Nicolas Hitori de will most likely be there. As of right now, his flight from France is a go. Here is more about Stumptown.

* And here is a drawing based on The Postman Always Rings Twice.
