STUMPTOWN 2012 SCHEDULE

The Stumptown Comics Fest is this weekend, April 28 and April 29. The entire Spell Checkers team will be special guests [Edit: Except for Nicolas Hitori de; he regrettably had to cancel today due to personal reasons]. Come by tables B-6 & B-7 to get autographs, books, ad prints, sketches, and original art. I am cleaning out my studio and bringing all my doodles to sell; also, my brand new book, Girl Who Owned a City.

If you want to get in line for sketches now, you can e-mail joellejonesart[a]gmail.com to order a black-and-white drawing. Some might get done before the show, or you can be first signed up at the show. Prices start at $50-$75 depending on characters and complexity.

When not at the table, you can find me at the following scheduled panels and events on Saturday:

1-1:45pm • Team Spell Checkers: The Power of Three
Joelle Jones, Jamie S. Rich, and Nicolas Hitori de, the international comics trio behind the Oni Press series Spell Checkers, will either share the secrets of their collaborative success or insult each other until one of them cries. Most likely both. (And the smart money is on Nico crying.) [Room B116]

6-6:45pm • The Not-So-Late Late Show with Oni PressJoin Oni Press' marketing guru Cory Casoni for an exciting new adventure in Stumptown programming: a live comic book talk show! It's just like the gabfests you see on TV, but with people talking about nerdy stuff you actually love! Cory's guests include Portland local celebrities and comic book celebra-nerds. Featuring good housekeeping with House of Night artist Joelle Jones, special musical guest Delta!Bravo, and a whole lot of comedy... some of it intentional. [Room B114]

And on Sunday...

4-4:45pm • The Dreaded Deadline Doom
A panel on time management for comics creators. Douglas Wolk talks with Farel Dalrymple, Joelle Jones, Natalie Nourigat, Ron Randall about hitting deadlines and completing lots of work in a fairly short time span. They will talk about how they do it, and discuss various strategies from the freelance-time-management world that can be applied to creative work. [Room B116]

5-5:45pm • Quit Your Day Job
Having a career in comics can seem like an impossible goal, but people achieve it all the time. This panel features a wide variety of cartoonists, Jeff Lemire (Sweet Tooth), Joelle Jones (Troublemaker), Daniel Duford (The Green Man of B Street) and BT Livermore (Baby Otto Zeplin), who gather together to discuss their various careers in the world of comics. Moderator Ryan Alexander-Tanner (Dave's Killer Bread) talks with each of them about the ups and downs of their unique career paths. [Room B113]
