MADMAN & JOE
This was a piece done for Chad Blakely's Madman collection. It's painted with acrylic, which is a medium I rarely use, sized at about 10 1/2" X 18 1/2". The size made it a little difficult to scan/photograph, but here is the best shot we have of it.
Click through for larger versions.
A closer detail:
A photo of it next to a futon, done to show scale:
At some point, I'm supposed to do a piece for Mike Allred to run in the Madman Atomic Comics series.

TRIPTYCH: A FLAPPER'S NIGHT OUT
Maryanne Snell, who works as an outside editor on most of Jamie's books, commissioned three pieces with the instruction that she wanted three flapper drawings that she could hang on her wall. I chose to make it a night on the town, from getting ready, to arriving at the club, to coming home.

ELIZABETH: THE GOLDEN AGE
Today I did an illustration of Cate Blanchett as Elizabeth to go with Jamie S. Rich's review of Elizabeth: The Golden Age.
The review is hosted by DVD Talk, and they even have a detail of the picture on the front of the site.

REJECTS
I'm getting caught up on commissions, so if you've been waiting, your wait is almost over. Thanks for your patience.
A couple of initial sketches didn't go quite right, so I abandoned them. In such a case, I often flip the paper over and start again. So, two people will be getting these little surprises on the back of their main piece.

STUMPTOWN 2007: FINAL BATCH
Sorry about the quality of these photos. It's hard to get the double page spreads. If you click through, you can actually see them larger on Jamie's Flickr account.
These are the kinds of things I do when left to my own devices. This first one I did on the first day of the show, and I just kept adding to it until I ran out of the blue lead I had borrowed.
Then I switched to this on Sunday.

THE UNBEARABLE LIGHTNESS OF BEING
It was my honor to be asked to be part of Steven Gettis' excellent collection of comics artists drawing literary figures. I chose to do a character from one of my favorite books, Sabina from The Unbearable Lightness of Being.
Click through for a larger version, or better yet, visit Steven's blog, Hey Oscar Wilde! It's clobberin' time! You could spend hours checking it all out.

FABLES: SNOW WHITE
This sketch was done at the Emerald City Con, a mere four days after the issue of Fables I did a one-pager in was released. Fables fans came looking for me. That's how loyal they are. I know I did a Rose Red that weekend, too.

SANDMAN: DREAMS OF GAIMAN
That title will be a lot funnier to those of you who went to the masquerade at Comic Con this year. Say it out loud in a slow, ostentatious manner, and maybe you'll hear it.
Anyway, here are a few commissions I've done of the Endless. Delirium and Dream were actually done at conventions.
Thanks to Rob for sending scans of those two. If you have sketches that I've done at conventions that you don't think I have copies of and you have access to a scanner, please send them to the gmail address.
The picture below came out quite nice, I think. I'm thumbnailing it here because it's wide, but you can click on it to go to a larger version at Jamie's Flickr account.

OFF TO THE RACES
This is page 51 of You Have Killed Me.
It's one of our favorite locales for the book. Originally, this image was panel 5 of Page 50, but I ended up drawing it as a full page and we moved the sequence around to accommodate it.

SKETCHBOOKS STILL AVAILABLE
There are still some sketchbooks available from the last two shows I did. The one on the left was the San Diego Comic Con edition, and there are a handful remaining; I only have two of the CAPE books (never mind, those are now spoken for), which are on the right. Each run is only about 50 copies each, so they are limited. They are different each time, with only a little bit of crossover.
$5 each, $2 postage. E-mail to arrange getting a copy, especially for the CAPE books. Drop a line to either joellejonesart [a] gmail.com or straight to Jamie at golightly [a] gmail.com, because he actually has them and will handle the mailing.

THE GREATEST GENERATION: GEN13
The Wright Opinion has been running a two-part interview done in tandem with Jamie S. Rich, featuring lots of art from You Have Killed Me and some upcoming short stories. Today's second part also has a drawing I did of Gen13 for Ben Abernathy at Wildstorm, a project that didn't happen because of timing. Here are more character sheets I did at the same time:

KISS OF THE SPIDER-MAN
A list of prices and available pages from 12 Reasons Why I Love Her can now be downloaded from the sidebar to your right.
This piece was commissioned at Comic-Con, but was actually drawn back home when the show was over.
And since we're talking Spidey, this Gwen Stacey drawing is from earlier this year.
